Mapcha 2.1

Mapcha is a tool designed to facilitate navigation using paper-based maps on iOS devices, offering functionality even without an active internet connection.*

Ideal for outdoor activities such as walking, trekking, or exploring unfamiliar urban environments, Mapcha enables users to pinpoint their current location relative to a physical map.

The application employs an intuitive method to overlay custom map images onto Apple Maps:

• You can capture a photograph of your paper map with your device’s camera or select an existing image from your photo library.
• Next, you identify two known points on the paper map and specify their corresponding locations within Apple Maps.
• Using these reference points, Mapcha calculates the map's scale and aligns the selected image accurately over Apple Maps.

*An internet connection may be necessary initially to load map data for calibration purposes. Once the map is calibrated, it can be used offline.

Note:

• Mapcha does not cache Apple Map data; however, your uploaded map images will be stored locally and remain accessible offline, allowing you to view your current location.
• The application does not include preloaded maps; users are required to import their own maps for use.
